Toni Onley

“This water colour has so many associations for me. I was lucky enough to study with Toni as a painting instructor at UBC in my undergraduate days. He was an inspiration as a teacher and an artist. His life of flying around British Columbia painting our magnificent landscape seemed to me to be the ultimate joy of artistic pursuits. When I decided to become an art teacher, I bought a print of this image which still hangs on my wall in Boundary Bay. Now, it is even more special as my husband and I have our studio and retreat on Galiano Island, and the image of Mount Baker roots us in both places. Toni Onley’s paintings with their minimalist style and subtle tones and colours, touches most everyone who calls the wet coast home.”
