This spring, join the Associates for an art tour of Edmonton! You'll explore the city's growing Arts District—home to the recently re-opened Royal Alberta Museum, and the rapidly developing ICE District in the heart of downtown. Refuel at some of the country's hottest restaurants and stroll (or take a tram) through the new, 4.8-hectare Aga Khan Garden.

Paris | Saturday, September 15 to Saturday, September 21—TOUR FULL

The Associates Travel Committee is excited to announce this year's travel program to the City of Light, Paris!

ACTIVITIES

  • Enjoy guided tours of must-see museums, including the Musée d’Orsay, l’Orangerie, Fondation Vuitton, Opéra Palais Garnier and the Musée Cluny; guided walking tours of Le Marais and Montmartre and other favourite neighbourhoods; accompanied strolls of the Right and Left Bank landmarks; and walks in beautiful gardens like Les Tuileries and Luxembourg
  • Visit artist studios and private collections
  • Experience unforgettable cuisine, shopping and an evening show.
  • Enjoy an exclusive tour of the Vaux-le-Vicomte, the superb XVII century palace and carden that “provoked” Louis XIV to build Versailles, followed by an evening river cruise of Paris Illuminations




Monday Morning Art Study Group

New to the Associates? In this informal setting, you’ll meet others who share your interest in art. Join our Associates study group at the Gallery in Room 302 (unless otherwise indicated below) every second Monday for an introduction to new artists or a revisit with one of the masters. The program begins at 11 AM and lasts about one hour. Doors open at 10:30 AM with refreshments available. Registration is not required unless otherwise indicated below.

  • April 15
    Los Angeles-based artist Owen Kydd will talk about his “durational photographs.”
  • April 29
    Join our discussion about the influential artistic movements Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, which arose in late 19th-century France
  • May 13
    Learn about American artist, curator, writer and educator Diana Thater, who has been a pioneering creator of installation and immersive art.
  • May 27
    Delve into the work of Henry Moore, the foremost British sculptor of the 20th century, best known for his semi-abstract monumental bronze sculptures located around the world as public works of art..

After May 27, the study group will take a summer hiatus, resuming October 7, 2019.

Non-members are welcome on a one-time basis and for a fee of $20 cash at the door.

 



Artist Studio Tours

Throughout the year, the Associates visit artist studios to witness first-hand the artist's creative process and to discuss their work.

A no-host lunch at a local restaurant normally follows the studio visit. There will be a charge of $5 to cover the cost of the artists’ lunches.

    Lunch at Jules Bistro, 216 Abbott Street Nicola’s realistic paintings will take us from the snow caps of Nunavut to the greens of Vancouver.

    Aurelia Bizouard’s practice ranges from creating artworks with glass and light, to artistic performances that invite the public to participate or observe. She also works in sculpture, painting, photography and ephemeral installations.

    Lunch at Bodega On Main, 1014 Main Street Nicola’s realistic paintings will take us from the snow caps of Nunavut to the greens of Vancouver.

    Meet painter Won-hee Gowen, whose works adorn offices and private homes in North America, Korea and Europe.

Non-members are welcome on a one-time basis and for a fee of $20 cash at the door.



Art in the Morning

Guided tours of the Gallery's current exhibitions are offered exclusively to members of the Associates on the third Friday of the month.

Beginning at 10am, the tour lasts about one hour and will be followed by a discussion with the Art Educator. Please meet the Art Educator in the Gallery Lobby by Coat Check.
