Curators’ Talk: Grant Arnold and Mandy Ginson

Tuesday, March 31 | 1:30 PM

To kick off the series, Grant Arnold, Audain Curator of British Columbia Art, and Mandy Ginson, Assistant Curator, will provide an in-depth look at the Gallery’s newest exhibition The Tin Man Was a Dreamer: Allegories, Poetics and Performances of Power.

Grant and Mandy will speak to their curatorial process in bringing together recent acquisitions from the Gallery’s permanent collection to present exhibitions that deal with the contemporary issues of our time.

The discussion will be moderated by Melissa Lee, Director of Education and Public Programs, and Stephanie Bokenfohr, Adult Programs Coordinator.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Grant Arnold is Audain Curator of British Columbia Art at the Vancouver Art Gallery, where he contributes to the exhibition program and development of the collection. Mandy Ginson is the Assistant Curator of Collections at the Vancouver Art Gallery. She has worked on numerous exhibitions of modern and contemporary art at the Gallery since 2012. Previously, she held positions at artist-run centres and galleries in Vancouver, including the Western Front, Artspeak and Simon Fraser University Art Gallery. She studied English, Visual Art and Art History at Mount Allison University, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and Simon Fraser University. She has contributed texts and articles to exhibition catalogues and journals such as C Magazine and Yishu: Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art.
