Art Agents + The Making Place
Every Sunday, the Gallery offers unique activities geared toward 5- to 12-year-old visitors and their families. Throughout the month of September, we will continue to investigate the exhibition Alberto Giacometti: A Line Through Time as well as Vikky Alexander: Extreme Beauty and Robert Rauschenberg 1965-1980.
All activities are free for children aged 12 & under, when accompanied by an adult. Adult participation is with admission or free for Gallery Members.
Join our team of curious, funny and informed Art Agents as they bring the Gallery’s exhibitions to life. They engage with the exhibitions through in-gallery activities, questions, and conversations relating to what your family notices about the artworks on display.
Then move on to The Making Place which offers art-making activities inspired by the materials and processes that you see in the exhibitions on display. Drop in any time between 12 and 4 PM to take part.

September 22: Robert Rauschenberg’s Experimentation
Robert Rauschenberg was looking at the relationship between art and life. While other artists were seeking new artmaking methods, he was exploring old methods such as printmaking while using the subject matter around him, redefining what printmaking could be. He often used found materials like boxes, fabrics, and paper scraps to play with different textures and images.
We will be looking closely at how Rauschenberg embraced mistakes within his experimentation and how he used found materials to create interesting images. Families are invited to create their own prints using everyday materials, experimenting with the different shapes and textures that appear.
