Bearing Witness: Works from the Collection

A work of art often has both aesthetic and social importance. This exhibition featuring works from the Gallery’s collection and presents art that reflects a number of social and political conditions. The subject matter ranges from the effects of war, government action and industrial exploitation, to the social dynamics of society especially in relation to gender and identity politics. The works, incorporating photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, video and sculpture, are by twenty-seven twentieth-century artists, including Ed Burtynsky, Magdalena Campos-Pons, Larry Fink, Leon Golub, Pablo Picasso, Stephen Shames, Nancy Spero and others.
