through a glass, darkly
June 30, 2012 - September 30, 2012
Imperfect memory and biased desire are often blamed for our inability to adequately represent past experiences and events. Our vision may be clouded by ulterior motives, obscured by desire, or blocked by fear and anxiety. There are some who say we are doomed to see the world as if through a glass, darkly.
Through a glass, darkly offers diverse perspectives on perception with specific reference to memory and loss. Artists in the exhibition include Geneviève Cadieux, Christian Boltanski, Marian Penner Bancroft, Eugenio Dittborn, Betty Goodwin, Mark Lewis, Alex Morrison, Jin-me Yoon and others.
